Job Overview
The Project Planner will be responsible for creating, updating, and tracking comprehensive project schedules and programmes specifically for construction projects. This role ensures proper planning, coordination, and monitoring of project activities to meet stipulated timelines, milestones, and contractual obligations.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules, including baseline programmes covering engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Develop detailed short-term (weekly/monthly) schedules in collaboration with project teams.
- Track actual progress versus approved plans by collecting and verifying data from site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Continuously update schedules, analyzing performance and identifying delays, critical tasks, slippages, and risks early.
- Monitor the project critical path and advise Project Managers on any potential impact on delivery dates.
- Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and look-ahead plans for internal and client reviews.
- Coordinate with procurement and engineering departments to oversee material approvals, procurement status, deliveries, and the management of long-lead items.
- Engage subcontractors in reviewing their schedules and track their progress.
- Assist in developing recovery plans to mitigate any project delays.
- Analyze effects of variations, changes, delays, and additional works on project timetables.
- Support preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims and delay analyses as required.
- Collaborate with commercial and contract teams to address programme-related contractual matters and claims.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Five to eight years of experience in project planning and scheduling roles within the construction sector.
- Experience within the UAE or GCC construction markets is preferred.
- Solid background working on medium to large-scale construction projects.
- Advanced knowledge of construction planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting practices.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 is highly desired.
- Competency in MS Project and Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and project control techniques.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and EOT procedures is advantageous.
