Job description

About the Role

Join a thriving, multi-state boutique project management consultancy with a diverse and steady project pipeline spanning Hospitality, Office, Aged Care, Government, and Education sectors. This role involves oversight of multiple projects throughout their full lifecycle — from initial stages through to delivery — typically handling projects up to $50 million, and occasionally exceeding $100 million, involving new builds and refurbishments.

Our client values candidates with a background in either head contractor or client-side project management, with a preference for those with client-side experience. The company offers a supportive culture, a strong team environment, and ample opportunities for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement processes, including engaging design consultants, construction contractors, and specialist consultants.
  • Oversee contract administration and manage claims effectively.
  • Coordinate statutory approvals and oversee design development.
  • Operate within various construction procurement models and contract types.
  • Identify and manage project risks, disputes, and issues.
  • Deliver high-quality project management services aligned with scope, budget, and schedule commitments.
  • Develop project scopes and prepare tender submissions.
  • Establish and maintain strong professional networks to enhance service delivery.
  • Handle regulatory approvals and design coordination efficiently.
  • Manage stakeholder communication and relationships.
  • Coordinate construction activities within live environments, ensuring health and safety compliance.
  • Manage program and construction activities to ensure project milestones and quality standards are met.
  • Handle site variations, design changes, and cost management.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A tertiary degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Between 5 and 10+ years of experience in client-side project management; experience with head contractors is also advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects end to end, from concept through completion, including contract administration.
  • Experience with program management, including scheduling, timeline management, and critical path analysis.
  • Proven track record managing various building projects; commercial fit-outs are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and familiarity with industry-standard contract forms such as GC21, AS4000, AS4122, and AS4902.
  • Experience managing multiple smaller projects concurrently.
