About the Role
Downer's Energy & Utilities business unit in the Southland District of New Zealand presents an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager. This role is essential for overseeing the successful completion of technically complex projects that involve extensive stakeholder coordination and early contractor engagement. Working closely with clients, the Project Manager plays a key role in maintaining Downer's status as a trusted and skilled tier one contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate productively with client representatives to foresee and resolve challenges, ensuring top-tier customer service.
- Guarantee that contract outcomes satisfy quality standards and timeline requirements set by customers.
- Develop and implement control frameworks and monitoring systems to manage project budgets effectively, delivering regular updates to project stakeholders.
- Ensure accuracy in monthly claims, forecasts, and cost-to-complete calculations.
- Contribute to the design of project methodologies, budgets, and scheduling for construction contracts.
- Coordinate resources including personnel, equipment, technology, and materials to accomplish project objectives.

Candidate Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field is mandatory.
- Proven track record as a Project Manager, preferably in water infrastructure or civil construction sectors.
- Experience handling multiple job sites, coordinating subcontractors, and managing suppliers.
- Sound knowledge of financial processes, including monthly claims, forecasting, and project financial reporting.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Exposure to Three Waters projects is considered beneficial.
- A commitment to safety leadership adhering to Zero Harm principles.
- Proficiency with computers and project reporting tools.
