We are seeking a Project Coordinator to join the eShepherd team in Hamilton, New Zealand, to support the delivery of engineering, production, and new product introduction initiatives. eShepherd is Gallagher’s innovative virtual fencing system for cattle, featuring solar-powered, GPS-enabled neckbands integrated with web and mobile applications that allow farmers to manage grazing boundaries without physical fences.
Role Responsibilities
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams including R&D, hardware, software, production, supply chain, and manufacturing to ensure smooth project execution. Your tasks will include maintaining project documentation, schedules, and communication among stakeholders, helping smaller projects progress from inception to completion, and facilitating key processes in design verification and product validation to prepare products for full production.
Your primary objectives are to organize projects effectively, ensure teams have necessary information, highlight risks promptly, and maintain consistent progress.
Key Activities
- Maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, and documentation.
- Assist in defining project scopes, business cases, and success criteria.
- Manage smaller projects through all phases from initiation to closure.
- Track actions, milestones, risks, and overall project status.
- Support design verification and product validation efforts.
- Coordinate new product introduction (NPI), bill of materials changeovers, and production readiness activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Prepare meeting notes, status reports, and action tracking documentation.
- Assist with project handovers, debriefs, and documentation finalization.
Team Interaction
You will report to the Project Manager and work closely with teams across Research & Development, New Product Introduction, Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing. This position operates at the intersection of engineering, product development, and production, supporting clarity in actions and timelines as eShepherd expands globally.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is organized, pragmatic, and capable of managing multiple simultaneous projects. Required qualifications and experiences include:
- 1-2 years of experience in project coordination or support roles.
- Strong skills in planning, organizing, and time management.
- Proficiency in maintaining schedules, action logs, records, and project documentation.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to follow-through.
- Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with project tracking tools such as Microsoft Project.
- A calm, cooperative approach when working with internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to proactively identify and communicate risks, obstacles, or missing elements.
Prior knowledge in engineering, manufacturing, product development, or new product introduction is highly regarded. While mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering qualifications are beneficial, the emphasis is on the ability to coordinate effectively, learn quickly, and help the teams deliver results.
