The organization collaborates with various partners to design and execute projects aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and enhancing local capabilities. Role Overview
The role of Project Cashier is a full-time, on-site position located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The individual will be responsible for managing daily cash operations including receiving, counting, and disbursing funds under organizational and donor regulations. Key tasks involve maintaining precise cash books, reconciling cash balances, generating payment vouchers, and ensuring thorough documentation of all financial transactions. The cashier will collaborate closely with project personnel to process payments related to supplies, services, and field operations, assist the finance team with financial report preparation, and support audit processes. Safeguarding cash reserves, monitoring liquidity, reporting anomalies promptly, and upholding confidentiality and stringent internal controls are critical aspects of this job.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven expertise in cash handling, record-keeping, and fundamental accounting principles, with meticulous maintenance of financial records.
- Competence in spreadsheet tools and basic accounting software, alongside strong numerical aptitude.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize multiple tasks, and pay keen attention to detail under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities for effective teamwork and interaction with vendors and partners.
- Familiarity with financial policies, internal control procedures, and donor compliance standards typical of humanitarian and development projects.
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience as a cashier, finance assistant, or in a comparable capacity within non-profit or project-driven environments is advantageous.
- Commitment to ethical principles, transparency, respect for diversity, and the ability to work full-time on-site in Addis Ababa.
