Job description

Role Overview

Lead and oversee the delivery of utility installations, ensuring timely completion aligned with quality, safety standards, and company requirements. The position involves managing the installation, testing, and commissioning of critical primary mechanical systems including chillers, HVAC, process exhaust systems, clean dry air (CDA), and process vacuums.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage cleanroom-related systems such as Makeup Air Units (MAU), Fan Filter Units (FFUs), pressurization, temperature and humidity control, and AMC filters.
  • Take charge of cleanroom certification and compliance processes, including ISO 4 to ISO 6/7 classifications, air balancing, and laminar flow management.
  • Ensure precise environmental controls to meet semiconductor industry standards, maintaining stringent tolerances for temperature, humidity, room pressure, particulate contamination, AMC, outgassing, and electrostatic discharge (ESD).
  • Review and verify contractor designs, submittals, P&IDs, 3D BIM models, and technical specifications for compliance with company standards, local regulations, international safety standards, and operational reliability goals.
  • Develop and implement energy-efficient strategies for new installations.
  • Lead coordination meetings with stakeholders, including contractors, system owners, and top management, to align plans, resolve conflicts, and ensure smooth execution.
  • Manage all necessary documentation such as drawings, BIM models, and software programs.
  • Ensure all punch list and defect items are addressed and completed satisfactorily.

Hookup System Management

  • Coordinate tool hookup packages and preparations, including defining Utility Connection Points (UCP), Point of Use (POU) regulations, and utility line sizing for process tools.
  • Design and execute cabling, piping, and ducting connections from main utility headers (Electrical, IT network, CDA, Exhaust, UPW, Gases, Chemicals, PCW, & PVAC) to tool interface points.
  • Liaise with system owners across Facilities, Equipment, and Production to minimize production interruptions and prevent project delays or defects during execution.

Expansion and Planning

  • Conduct ongoing assessments to ensure facility capacity meets projections up to five years ahead and plan improvements or expansions accordingly.
  • Support and lead expansion or renovation projects for facility systems as required.

Additional Assignments

  • Perform additional projects or assignments as needed, including temporary coverage for other engineers on leave.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing semiconductor cleanroom facilities.
  • Minimum 2 years as a Mechanical & Electrical Facilities Engineer within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Practical knowledge of semiconductor tool hookup design, construction oversight, and tool sign-off procedures is advantageous.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of semiconductor mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiar with Facilities Management Control Systems (FMCS), PLC/SCADA system architectures, and variable speed drive control loops.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical documents such as P&IDs, isometric drawings, 3D BIM models (Revit/Navisworks), and CAD layouts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Personal Attributes

  • Capability to independently work as well as lead or coordinate cross-functional projects.
  • Logical and systematic approach with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to function well both independently and as part of a team.
