About the Role

Waterways Watch Society (WWS) invites applications for the role of Programme & Partnerships Associate to contribute to our environmental education, community outreach, and engagement efforts throughout Singapore. This role offers hands-on involvement beyond conventional desk work, including leading diverse environmental programmes via walking, cycling, kayaking, and boating. You will collaborate with schools, corporations, and community groups, while managing volunteer coordination and assisting in cultivating new partnerships to promote environmental stewardship in Singapore.

As a member of a small, agile team, you will gain exposure to many facets of running an environmental non-profit organization, including programme delivery, stakeholder engagement, business development, communications, and operational duties. The position may be offered on a full-time or contract basis and is open exclusively to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and facilitate environmental education and sustainability initiatives targeted at various audiences such as schools, companies, and community groups.
  • Conduct outdoor programmes and patrols employing multiple modes of transport including walking, cycling, kayaking, pedal boats, and boats.
  • Present educational talks, briefings, workshops, and presentations focusing on environmental and waterway-related matters.
  • Assist with the creation of new environmental programmes, learning resources, and community engagement activities.
  • Represent WWS at public exhibitions, community events, and external forums.
  • Support relationship management involving schools, corporate partners, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Process enquiries, manage proposals, plan programmes, and coordinate with prospective and existing partners.
  • Identify opportunities for novel programmes, collaborations, and community-driven initiatives.
  • Contribute to select fundraising, sponsorship, and business development efforts when appropriate.
  • Coordinate and engage a diverse volunteer base spanning different ages and backgrounds, managing recruitment, scheduling, deployment, and communications.
  • Lead or assist volunteer patrols and environmental activities to foster a positive and meaningful volunteer experience.
  • Oversee programme logistics, including scheduling, equipment management, and participant coordination.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of programmes, volunteers, and stakeholders utilizing CRM software such as Salesforce, Excel, and other internal tools.
  • Support reporting requirements, presentation preparations, and administrative tasks linked to WWS projects and activities.
  • Collaborate with the broader team on special projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Help maintain communication channels with programme participants, volunteers, partners, and the public, including contributing content for social media and environmental outreach.
  • Applicants with skills in photography, videography, design, or social media content creation may have additional opportunities to produce content for WWS platforms.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrates a sincere interest in environmental sustainability, community involvement, or environmental education.
  • Enjoys engaging with diverse groups, comfortable interacting with youth, volunteers, corporate stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Effective communicator, confident in both written and verbal English.
  • Organized, reliable, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated yet works well within a team dynamic.
  • Adaptable to work both indoors and outdoors in various settings.
  • Physically fit to participate in outdoor activities and able to cycle.
  • Exhibits initiative, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred but Not Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • Experience in facilitating programmes, workshops, camps, or community events.
  • Previous work experience with schools, corporates, volunteers, or community organizations.
  • Proficiency in social media, photography, videography, or content creation.
  • Background in event or programme management.
  • Experience in business development, partnership cultivation, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Possession of a 1-Star Kayaking certification or higher.
  • Experience leading cycling, kayaking, or other outdoor group activities.

Work Arrangements

Many of WWS's programmes and volunteer events occur on weekends. Candidates must be comfortable dedicating one half-day on either Saturday or Sunday per week, based on programme demands and agreed scheduling. The position is primarily Singapore-based and involves a blend of office duties, stakeholder engagement, and outdoor activities across various waterways and locations.
