Job description
About Datacom
Datacom partners with organizations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to positively impact lives and enable businesses to harness the power of technology for innovation and growth.
Role Overview
As a key senior leader in Datacom's delivery leadership, the Programme Director holds full accountability for one of the company’s largest and most complex enterprise programmes. This role requires ownership of the programme from start to finish—defining the vision, steering delivery, and ensuring scalable achievement of outcomes. There is no shared leadership; you will be the sole leader responsible for the strategic, commercial, and execution aspects.
You will integrate strategic insight, technology expertise, commercial management, and operational excellence to unify multiple workstreams. Confidently operating at executive levels, you will report to senior leaders, influence decision-making, and provide data-driven advice that aligns the programme with organizational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Define programme objectives aligned with organizational goals and develop detailed programme roadmaps.
- Lead programme planning, governance structures, and delivery oversight to guarantee high-quality results.
- Manage multifaceted technical delivery environments across platforms, including coordination of project teams and senior stakeholders.
- Supervise programme timelines, budgets, risks, and resource allocation, ensuring compliance with contracts and commercial agreements.
- Drive organizational change management initiatives to realize intended business benefits.
- Mentor and guide Programme Managers managing multiple workstreams to ensure successful outcomes.
- Maintain clear communication channels with stakeholders, providing reporting, metrics, and documentation for informed decision-making.
- Support pre-sales efforts, proposal development, and future enhancements of programme strategies.
- Ensure alignment of programmes with Datacom’s strategic objectives, risk policies, and delivery standards.
Candidate Profile
- At least 15 years’ experience in Programme Management within dynamic IT service settings.
- Minimum 10 years leading complex programmes using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Proven history of successfully delivering large-scale, multi-vendor programmes, handling dependencies, commercial partnerships, governance, and outcomes across diverse teams.
- Strong commercial acumen including financial oversight and contractual governance.
- Expertise in risk mitigation, senior stakeholder management, and leadership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence executive and C-suite leaders.
- Advanced proficiency in project and programme management software tools.
- Programme management certifications such as PRINCE2, PMI, MSP, PgMP, PMP or equivalent.
- Agile methodology certification including PSM1, CSM, SAFe or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Project Director (CPD) or related credential.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, IT, or a related field.
- Additional certifications such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean methodologies, and Facilitation skills.
- Experience embodying Datacom’s core values to nurture growth and business success.
