Role Overview
As a Professional Consulting Veterinarian, you will play a critical role in promoting Hill's brand recommendations by positioning the company as a scientific and innovative partner engaged with veterinary professionals. Reporting to the Professional Veterinary Affairs Manager, your focus will be on educating both internal stakeholders and external veterinary professionals about the benefits and applications of Hill’s range of diets.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain expert knowledge in small animal nutrition and Hill’s product lines.
- Identify and leverage business opportunities through veterinary expertise to drive commercial gain.
- Act as the main technical resource for the New South Wales sales team, providing training and coaching on Hill’s Science Diet and Prescription Diet products.
- Collaborate with the NSW Field Sales Manager to deliver strategic in-field support by analyzing data and targeting specific clinics for distribution growth.
- Conduct regular field activities with NSW Territory Managers to reinforce technical understanding.
- Develop and sustain professional relationships with key thought leaders, specialist hospitals, and universities across NSW and the ACT.
- Coordinate and support the local veterinary student representative initiatives at NSW vet schools, aligning with broader student engagement strategies.
- Deliver educational presentations to veterinarians, veterinary students, nurses, and specialty pet retail groups both digitally and in-person.
- Assist the Scientific Affairs Manager in executing key account initiatives within the territory.
- Represent Hill’s at veterinary industry conferences and professional events.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Veterinary Science.
- Current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW.
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in small animal practice.
- Valid NSW driver’s license.
- Proficient computer skills, especially familiarity with Google Suite tools is preferred.
Desired Attributes and Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to large groups.
- Ability to recognize commercial opportunities and a sound understanding of business principles.
- Effective stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
- Independence in work and ability to travel within the region, including occasional overnight stays.
- Previous experience in the animal health industry is highly valued.
Compensation and Benefits
This position includes a competitive salary package and a fully paid company car.
