About the Role
Join MSD Australia & New Zealand as a Production Technician in Upper Hutt, Wellington. You'll work within a regulated manufacturing environment contributing directly to the production of antigen and vaccine products that meet global quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce antigen and/or vaccine products meeting quality specifications and production timelines.
- Operate manufacturing equipment per Standard Operating Procedures ensuring compliance and safety.
- Maintain high standards of cleaning, preparation, and sterilization to minimize waste.
- Accurately document all work in batch records, worksheets, and logs following Good Documentation Practice.
- Complete and review Integrated Process Team (IPT) documentation to support product release.
- Support site-wide quality initiatives by adhering to targets and promoting a culture of zero overdue tasks.
- Manage and archive IPT documentation with precision and completeness.
- Enter manufacturing data into spreadsheets to aid analysis and reporting.
- Maintain documentation such as SOPs, batch records, and worksheets within your area.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderly housekeeping standards in the workspace.
- Communicate effectively with IPT and other teams to facilitate smooth product flow and documentation handling.
- Provide hands-on training for fellow technicians within assigned areas.
- Develop strong practical knowledge to support troubleshooting and process enhancements.
- Identify and resolve production or operational challenges proactively.
- Suggest improvements in processes focused on quality, safety, and cost reduction.
- Engage in Tier 1 and On-Point problem solving including 8-Step methodologies.
- Assist with site projects, process modifications, and document updates together with cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to larger improvement projects through data collection, analysis, and execution.
- Support senior colleagues in major site initiatives and safety or quality program implementation.
- Analyze data to spot opportunities and recommend improvements.
Requirements
- Strong collaboration skills with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience or readiness to work in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Ability to plan work schedules, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Sound problem-solving skills grounded in logical analysis.
- Preferred academic background in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or an equivalent field.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), or ISO standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; SAP experience is advantageous.
- Willingness to collaborate across teams and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
