Job description
Job Summary
We are seeking a proficient and proactive Production Engineer to oversee daily activities on the shop floor. This role demands solid technical expertise in manufacturing processes along with the ability to manage production planning, process controls, manpower supervision, quality coordination, and continuous operational enhancements independently.
Primary Responsibilities
- Organize, plan, and supervise day-to-day production operations.
- Oversee shop floor tasks including sheet metal fabrication, stamping, bending, welding, assembly, and machining processes.
- Achieve production objectives while upholding quality benchmarks.
- Develop and enforce process sheets, work instructions, and detailed production schedules.
- Track machine utilization, productivity rates, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Collaborate with the quality control team to address production-related challenges.
- Interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings, along with technical specifications.
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes aimed at minimizing rejects, reducing rework, and shortening cycle times.
- Maintain smooth material flow and coordinate material availability with warehousing.
- Lead and mentor operators, technicians, and supervisors.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and 5S workplace organization standards.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to reduce equipment downtime.
- Document production metrics and prepare comprehensive reports.
Technical Skills Required
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering and manufacturing blueprints.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication and press shop operations.
- Knowledge of stamping, bending, and press brake operations.
- Skills in MIG welding and related fabrication methods.
- Understanding of CNC machining techniques.
- Competence in production planning and process control methodologies.
- Ability to operate precision measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other gauges.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to document manufacturing processes accurately.
