Position Summary
This entry-level role, reporting to the Sanitation/Shift Lead or Shift Supervisor, is responsible for executing all sanitation duties inside the plant to maintain cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly clean areas in the plant that cannot be attended during normal operations.
- Use water and chemicals only when approved by the Shelling Plant Shift Lead; otherwise, apply dry cleaning methods during production hours.
- Exercise particular caution when cleaning food contact surfaces such as elevator buckets and conveyors, adhering strictly to Preventive Controls; avoid using chemicals on these surfaces.
- Follow all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and label instructions meticulously for cleaning agents.
- Utilize only plastic scrapers on surfaces that come into direct contact with food products.
- Properly empty mop buckets after completing cleaning tasks.
- Keep track of cleaning supplies and immediately report any missing, unlabeled, or misused materials to the Shift Lead.
- Adhere to ofi Peanut Shelling safety policies; work safely and report hazards or unsafe conditions to management or safety personnel.
- Comply completely with company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Preventive Control Rules, and Occupational Safety Regulations.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Notify supervisors of any circumstances that could jeopardize Safe Food Manufacturing Policies and Preventive Controls.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support plant operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills for coordination and reporting.
- Good physical dexterity to perform sanitation tasks efficiently.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including early mornings, late hours, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
- This role requires on-site presence in a facility that processes peanuts regularly; employees may be exposed to peanuts and related allergens through contact or airborne particles. Accommodations may be made for eligible individuals with disabilities.
