Role Overview

As an Early Career Transport Planner in Gisborne, New Zealand, you'll operate within the Transport Planning team managing log haulage using Trimble's specialized logistics software. Your key responsibility will be to provide back-office coordination by updating applications in real-time, monitoring truck movements, delivering route plans, and scheduling to optimize fleet utilization.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinating harvesting contractors and logging trucks dynamically to maximize daily load capacity and use of the fleet.
• Implementing and overseeing wood flow logistics plans through specialized software to ensure successful commercial outcomes for clients.
• Addressing operational issues promptly by negotiating directly with suppliers and customers in field situations as they arise.
• Tracking, analyzing, and reporting on critical production metrics, inventory, and deliveries to maintain transparent supply chain operations.

Required Skills and Experience

• Between zero and two years of professional experience; relevant experience in retail, hospitality, or call center roles during studies is considered suitable.
• Strong communication abilities to develop effective relationships and negotiate with different stakeholders including suppliers, customers, and contractors.
• Good multitasking and problem-solving skills.
• Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new software following training.
• Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications such as a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Logistics, or Business are advantageous but not mandatory.

Working Conditions and Location

This full-time position is based onsite in Gisborne, New Zealand, with shifts of 8 hours scheduled between 5 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
