Job description

Role Overview

As a Production Operator at Apollo Pharmacy, you will be responsible for bringing customized gummies to life using imported 3D/inkjet food printers. These printers create edible designs layer by layer, producing products that are ready for packaging.

Product and Technology Details

The company Nourish produces personalized sugar-free and vegan gummies featuring up to seven nutrient layers using state-of-the-art 3D printers. These gummies are distributed through Apollo Pharmacy and other retail outlets.

Primary Duties

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate specialized food-grade printers that apply custom shapes, colors, and text to gummies in multiple nutrient layers.
  • Manage the loading of edible inks and gel bases, monitoring supplies to ensure availability before production begins.
  • Process print jobs from the order system, confirming each print matches the customer’s specifications, including nutrient layer allocation.
  • Perform regular maintenance such as cleaning nozzles, conducting inspections, and preventive measures to minimize errors and printer downtime.
  • Inspect finished gummies for color accuracy, alignment, and adherence to food safety regulations, removing any defective products.
  • Troubleshoot minor printer malfunctions and promptly escalate complex technical issues.
  • Keep detailed production records and comply strictly with GMP, HACCP, and all relevant safety protocols.
  • Package completed gummies into retail-ready packs by counting, sealing, labeling, and batch-coding per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Work in hospital and warehouse environments as required.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is advantageous.
  • At least one year of experience operating production or printing machinery in industries such as food processing, packaging, or manufacturing.
  • Ability to identify and resolve mechanical and software-related equipment issues.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to quickly detect problems related to color, alignment, and overall quality.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and GMP food safety standards, or willingness to undergo training and certification.
  • Physical ability to stand throughout a full shift and safely lift weights up to 25 pounds (approximately 11 kilograms).
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to a safety-first working environment.

Industry-Specific Guidance

  • Maintain proper moisture levels in gummies to avoid stickiness, mold growth, or excessive hardness.
  • Monitor and log room temperature and humidity during every shift, reporting any abnormal values immediately.
  • Store inks and gel bases properly, following FIFO practices and label instructions to maintain product quality.
  • Vigilantly report issues such as smudging, color bleeding, sticky texture, or uneven layering; halt production if recurring faults occur.
  • Package gummies using clean, dry, gloved hands, ensuring correct seals, labels, batch numbers, and expiry dates are applied.
  • Observe strict hygiene protocols, including wearing gloves, caps, and masks, and thoroughly cleaning equipment between design changes.
  • At hospital or warehouse locations, ensure packs remain dry and are stored off floors to maintain quality standards.
