About Lumilens
Lumilens is pioneering critical photonics technologies that are foundational for future AI supercomputing. From optical interconnects between chips to scalable photonic engines, the company is enabling computing that is faster, more efficient, and cooler. Backed by strong venture capital and led by industry veterans, Lumilens offers the opportunity to innovate at the core of optical technology and work alongside top engineers tackling complex challenges in optics and systems.
Position Overview
The Product Quality Engineer role presents a unique chance to lead the technical quality vision for products in a rapidly growing startup environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and internal multifunctional teams to ensure product quality, reliability, and continuous improvement across photonics components and subsystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee reliability efforts for photonic components including Silicon Photonics ICs, lasers (such as DFB and CW types), and optoelectronic SiPs used in high-speed optical networking.
- Collaborate with R&D and design engineering teams early in the product development lifecycle to integrate reliability insights.
- Design and implement qualification procedures in line with standards like Telcordia/GR-468, JEDEC, and others relevant for telecom and data communication products.
- Conduct accelerated life tests, perform failure analysis, develop degradation models, and investigate root causes to guide enhancements in design and manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with teams across photonics design, packaging, manufacturing, quality, product marketing, and supply chain to manage seamless development and production transfers.
- Lead supplier qualification processes, instituting supplier quality metrics for critical photonic parts, and support supplier audits assessing factory capabilities and reliability models.
- Support incoming component validation infrastructure.
- Develop and propagate Design for Reliability methodologies, applying predictive modeling and statistical techniques.
- Prepare and deliver technical reviews, reliability documentation, and risk evaluations for internal use and customer engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Materials Science, or a comparable field, or equivalent practical experience in photonics reliability engineering.
- Strong expertise in photonic device physics, packaging methods, and failure mechanisms.
- Proven track record in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and qualification processes from initial concept through volume manufacturing.
- In-depth understanding of applicable standards such as GR-468, Telcordia, JEDEC, and MIL-STD.
- Proficiency in reliability modeling and statistical analysis methods including Weibull and Arrhenius models, and tools like JMP or Minitab.
- Hands-on experience with reliability testing systems (including HTOL, HAST, Temperature/Humidity, Thermal Cycling) and failure analysis instruments (SEM, FIB, X-ray, various spectroscopy).
- Excellent communication skills capable of influencing multidisciplinary and supplier teams effectively.
- Experience working within fast-paced high-technology sectors serving telecommunications and datacom markets.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience in integrated photonics packaging and co-design of optical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with wafer-level reliability assessments and optical wafer probing technologies.
- Previous exposure to working with Tier-1 datacenter clients or hyperscale customers.
Working Conditions
- This role requires onsite presence in Singapore with potential quarterly offsite meetings and occasional business travel.
- Regular use of computers and office equipment is necessary.
- Interaction with team members and external contacts is routine.
- Position may require occasional overtime and flexible work hours to meet organizational needs.
Why Join Lumilens?
