Smartbox Group is dedicated to enriching free time by providing nearly 15,000 unique experiences across categories like stays, wellness, adventure, and gastronomy. Operating in 11 countries with over 700 employees, the company collaborates with more than 40,000 trusted partners including hotels, restaurants, wellness centers, and activity providers to create memorable shared moments. The company embodies a philosophy of valuing experiences over possessions and sharing over owning, aligned with societal shifts towards these values.

Culture

At Smartbox, the mission is to unleash both individual and collective potential by fostering a dynamic workplace focused on curiosity, bold ideas, authentic connections, and impactful experiences. Team members are empowered to take ownership, embrace challenges, and contribute to meaningful growth and positive societal impact in an environment encouraging ambition and transformative purpose.

Role Overview

The Product Manager will be responsible for owning the complete shopping experience on the platform, encompassing discovery, browsing, search, merchandising, and the gifting journey. This includes setting a strategic vision and a commercially viable roadmap while incorporating AI-driven innovations in partnership with engineering, design, data, and commercial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the product roadmap focusing on the shopping journey, balancing user experience with business goals.
  • Identify, assess, and integrate AI functionalities such as personalization engines, smart search, generative content, conversion optimization, and intelligent A/B testing.
  • Conduct continuous customer research and competitive analysis to uncover relevant problems and opportunities, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch and beyond, ensuring clarity in documentation and user stories.
  • Promote a culture of rigorous experimentation through hypothesis formulation, test design, data interpretation, and scaling successful initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with eCommerce, marketing, category management, data science, and technology teams to align goals and foster results.
  • Establish success metrics, monitor KPIs such as conversion rates, average order value, engagement, and funnel drop-off, and report progress up to leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum five years in product management, with at least two years dedicated to eCommerce or similar transactional digital platforms.
  • Demonstrated success in launching customer-facing features that delivered measurable commercial benefits.
  • Hands-on experience with A/B testing and experimentation tools like VWO or Optimizely.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within agile environments alongside engineering and design teams.
  • Familiarity with eCommerce platforms, analytics, and data querying methodologies.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Practical experience implementing AI/ML features, such as personalization, search optimization, content creation, or automation.
  • An informed and curious understanding of generative AI and large language model technologies to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to collaborate with data science teams to specify machine learning feature requirements and analyze results.

Preferred Attributes

  • Strong analytical decision-making capabilities based on data insights rather than intuition.
  • Excellent communication skills adaptable to different audiences, including engineers, marketers, and executive leadership.
  • High sense of ownership and accountability for both outcomes and processes, including escalation when appropriate.
  • Collaborative and humble approach promoting teamwork and consensus.

Additional Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience within gifting, travel, or marketplace eCommerce sectors.
  • Exposure to managing platforms across multiple markets or languages.
  • Knowledge of headless or composable commerce systems.
  • Use of AI productivity tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor for tasks such as writing, research, and documentation.

Benefits and Working Conditions

  • Hybrid working arrangement with approximately 2–3 remote days weekly and 20 days abroad annually.
  • Comprehensive health coverage, pension plan, tax saver benefits, and additional leave options.
  • Flexible benefits packages customizable for health, wellbeing, and learning preferences.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion featuring parental leave, inclusive day, and equitable rewards.
  • Learning and development support including study assistance and study leave.
  • Special leave benefits such as one day annual short-notice leave ("YOLO" day) and paid sabbaticals after five years of service.
  • Transparent and fair salary bands alongside defined career progression levels.
