Knowledge Intelligence Pod Overview

The Knowledge Intelligence Pod (KIP) is a dedicated product team responsible for end-to-end management of knowledge-focused product experiences. KIP enables firms and internal teams to effectively find, extract, verify, and utilize information to address client queries, compile accounting documents, and conduct reviews. The pod manages user interfaces and core backend services such as document intelligence, search, data provenance, answering mechanisms, evaluation procedures, and quality controls.

Role Summary

The role is for a Senior/Staff Engineer who will shape and build the technical infrastructure for KIP. This is a hands-on leadership position encompassing coding, systems architecture, applied AI, and ensuring system reliability and accuracy. Responsibilities include producing clean production code, designing robust abstractions, guiding the technical vision, mentoring engineers, and maintaining close collaboration with users to guarantee that the system enhances professional productivity and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Advance the foundational data model to incorporate documents, emails, uploads, and additional sources.
• Strengthen the existing workflows covering data ingestion, extraction, validation, approval, and search processes.
• Enhance APIs supporting data extraction, provenance tracking, corrections, and approvals.
• Develop abstractions that enable seamless onboarding of new firms without customized modifications.
• Manage and improve document extraction, analytics, and review tools currently in production.
• Enrich structured data with confidence indicators, provenance information, and pathways for corrections.
• Increase system observability incorporating tracing, model versioning, failure detection, and regression monitoring.
• Oversee full-stack product components including review, correction, and response interfaces used by professionals.
• Collaborate with tax experts and accountants to automate authentic workflows.
• Translate vague challenges into scoped experiments and deliver functioning solutions.
• Establish and steer technical directions as the systems expand across organizations and teams.
• Mentor engineering peers through collaborative design reviews, pair programming, and system improvements.
• Elevate standards around testing, evaluation, monitoring, and security.
• Coordinate with the Pod Leader to manage the development roadmap.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 8 years of software development, including leadership at Staff Engineer level on complex technical projects.
• Product-oriented with a strong focus on user outcomes; evaluates success by users’ efficiency and trust rather than system responsiveness alone.
• Proficient across full technology stack: backend systems, API design, data modeling, user interfaces, and production troubleshooting.
• Preferably experienced with applied AI and/or financial data systems, particularly involving LLMs, data retrieval, extraction methods, agents, or financial/accounting workflows.
• Adept at managing ambiguous situations with strong ownership: converts uncertain goals into actionable plans and measurable results without waiting for perfect requirements.
• Excellent at technical communication, producing clear design documentation, articulating tradeoffs, and aligning diverse stakeholders on solutions.

Additional Information

Reporting to the Knowledge Intelligence Pod Lead. Preferred work location is San Francisco or Singapore, though exceptional candidates with availability overlapping US, Europe, and Asia time zones will be considered. Full-time commitment required.
