Procurement is a vital function to ensure the transparent, efficient, and value-for-money use of public funds. This role provides an opportunity to directly support effective governance and enhance the delivery of public services while collaborating with diverse stakeholders and adhering to local laws and international standards.
Role Details
This full-time remote position involves supporting government procurement procedures. Responsibilities include preparing and managing purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring strict compliance with procurement regulations. The specialist will evaluate vendors, analyze quotation data, assist in contract negotiations to obtain advantageous terms, and ensure dependable delivery schedules.
Daily tasks encompass maintaining procurement documentation, monitoring order statuses, evaluating supplier performance, and generating internal procurement reports. The specialist will also work closely with cross-functional teams to anticipate procurement needs, streamline processes, and uphold transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
Qualifications
- Experience with procurement, specifically in public or institutional contexts.
- Competence in managing purchase orders and procurement-related paperwork accurately and on schedule.
- Ability to assess suppliers for reliability, product/service quality, and compliance with requirements.
- Skilled in contract negotiation and capable of analytical data interpretation to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Academic background in business administration, supply chain management, public administration, economics, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with public procurement legislation, regulatory frameworks, and internationally accepted best practices is a significant asset.
- Strong communication abilities and aptitude for stakeholder engagement and teamwork, especially in a remote working environment.
- Proficiency with common office software and experience using procurement or ERP software; familiarity with e-procurement systems is preferable.
