About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Procurement Manager to work with a leading main building contractor based in Galway. The ideal candidate will bring over seven years of extensive experience in construction procurement, quantity surveying, or supply chain management, accompanied by a relevant degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Supply Chain, or Business. A CIPS certification would be a notable advantage. This position offers a salary of up to €70,000 alongside a comprehensive benefits package including a pension scheme, life insurance, educational support, and 26 days of annual leave.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and implement long-range procurement objectives along with category plans and supply chain strategies focused on major subcontractor packages.
- Oversee procurement functions across a varied project mix, emphasizing commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use developments.
- Develop and nurture strong strategic relationships with suppliers to mitigate risks, foster innovation, and generate cost savings.
- Keep abreast of market conditions and inflation trends, managing the inflation tracker to pinpoint strategic risks and opportunities.
- Champion digital procurement solutions and advance the company's Responsible Sourcing Programme to enhance sustainability.
- Lead and guide procurement team members by setting clear performance targets and providing mentorship.
- Deliver detailed data analyses, prepare executive-level reports, and create presentations that influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Qualifications and Experience
- More than seven years of relevant experience in construction procurement, quantity surveying, or supply chain roles, with emphasis on strategic sourcing.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Supply Chain, or Business, with a preference for candidates holding CIPS certification.
- Solid expertise in category management, contract negotiations, and proficiency with eProcurement platforms.
- Strong analytical capabilities and expert skills with MS Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for effective data visualization and presentations.
- A proactive attitude focused on continuous improvement, capable of leading initiatives independently while managing multiple complex priorities.
