About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Buyer to join a multinational battery manufacturing company based in Bengaluru. This individual will be responsible for procuring raw materials, components, consumables, and services essential to the manufacturing process. The role demands ensuring the timely acquisition of quality items at competitive prices, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing and purchasing required materials, components, and services for production activities.
- Requesting and assessing quotations from approved vendors considering price, quality, delivery, and service factors.
- Creating purchase orders compliant with company policies and ERP guidelines.
- Negotiating costs, payment terms, delivery timelines, and contracts with suppliers.
- Exploring and developing alternate suppliers to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Building and sustaining robust supplier relationships to ensure dependable supply.
- Monitoring supplier performance concerning quality, cost, and timely delivery; conducting reviews and participating in audits as required.
- Resolving supplier-related issues such as delays, quality discrepancies, or billing inconsistencies.
- Coordinating with production planning and inventory teams to guarantee material availability.
- Keeping track of inventory levels and contributing to inventory optimization projects.
- Expediting urgent orders to avoid disrupting production flows.
- Analyzing demand forecasts and adjusting procurement strategies accordingly.
- Identifying cost reduction opportunities via negotiation, supplier consolidation, and process enhancements.
- Supporting value engineering and other cost-saving initiatives.
- Monitoring market trends, commodity pricing, and supply chain risks.
- Ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations in all procurement activities.
- Maintaining accurate purchasing records, contracts, and supplier documentation.
- Supporting quality management and environmental compliance procedures.

Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing setup.
- Proficient with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong negotiation and communication capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement and supply chain functions.
- Ability to analyze data and make purchasing decisions based on business needs.
- Understanding of MRP (Material Requirement Planning), inventory control, and production planning concepts.
- Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and functions.
