Process Engineering Specialist

Job Overview

The Process Engineering Specialist provides expert advice and support in process engineering activities throughout EPC and startup phases until transfer to permanent asset management. The role ensures project deliverables align with operational goals focusing on safety, operability, reliability, and maintainability through the facility's lifecycle.

Internal and External Collaboration

• Maintain regular communications with Project Management Teams and Operations departments.
• Engage periodically with Engineering & Projects Groups and HSEQ departments.
• Interact frequently with shareholders' subject matter experts, EPC contractors, vendors, suppliers, and engineering consultants.
• Influence project decisions by evaluating CAPEX alongside OPEX considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure strict adherence to company specifications, processes, and procedures within assigned projects.
• Participate in technical design reviews and provide inputs to develop approved field operations while mitigating new technology risks.
• Operate within the Delegation of Authority and approved budget limits for the role.

Compliance and Development

• Uphold compliance with company Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality policies, regulations, and standards.
• Support the professional development of Qatari employees, a mandatory responsibility for expatriates.
• Ensure all actions align with anti-trust, competition laws, and company firewall policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide active process engineering support for RCFA, Hazop, FRA, Hazid, SIL verification, and process safety and reliability matters.
• Contribute to developing Standard Operating Procedures for new projects.
• Design and apply process surveillance tools compliant with surveillance plans to secure safe, reliable, and optimal production, including troubleshooting and escalation protocols.
• Participate actively in system completion activities such as walk-down inspections prior to commissioning and startup including chemical and catalyst loading observations.
• Maintain and update an Issue Register that identifies and resolves critical and new technology risks impacting project reliability, availability, and cybersecurity.
• Provide technical expertise across disciplines and functions to support broader business aims.
• Facilitate successful project tie-ins across all systems under responsibility.
• Support high-risk commissioning for complex, large-scale projects through rigorous system surveillance, system tuning and optimization, and operational advisory support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is required.

Experience

• Minimum of eight years’ experience within the oil and gas sector.

Skills and Attributes

• Ability to perform effectively and make sound decisions in high-pressure environments.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.
• Strong leadership capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Competency with Microsoft Office suite and SAP software.
