Role Overview and Responsibilities

As a Process Engineer, you will manage and enhance vital production processes to ensure consistency, reliability, and quality. Your duties include identifying process inefficiencies to eliminate waste, establishing strong process controls, and leading part trial runs for validating changes. You will work on improving cycle times, throughput, equipment utilization (OEE), and quality metrics like First Time Through (FTT) and First Time Quality (FTQ). Statistical Process Control (SPC) will be implemented and maintained to monitor and boost process capability.

In quality and risk management, you will develop and utilize PFMEA and Control Plans, drive continuous risk mitigation, and lead root cause investigations using established Lean tools such as 8D, 5W1H, and Ishikawa diagrams. Incorporating error-proofing methods like Poka Yoke and vision systems will be part of your duties to prevent failures. The role involves supporting production approval processes and collaborating with Quality Assurance to sustain regular audits and meet standards such as IATF 16949.

Project and change management responsibilities include following Magna’s change control procedures (MQS11), supporting cross-functional teams with expert insights, and applying APQP principles during projects. You will actively engage in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies like Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Kanban, while fostering a culture of learning and improvement through coaching and knowledge sharing.

Data-driven decision making is critical; you will work closely with operators and subject matter experts to analyze process data, present clear findings, and utilize internal IT tools including Microsoft 365 and Power Platform to track and enhance process performance.

Health, Safety & Environmental Duties

Compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental policies is mandatory. Duties include following plant safety rules, reporting hazards or incidents, wearing protective equipment, performing pre-use inspections of machinery and vehicles, maintaining cleanliness and 5S standards, and participating in investigations as required.

Key Qualifications

Essential:

• Practical manufacturing experience, preferably within automotive or high-volume production settings.
• Strong command of process control techniques, variation reduction methods, and quality assurance practices.
• Proficient in PFMEA, Control Plans, and structured problem-solving frameworks (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagrams).
• Knowledge of automated assembly and chemical processing.
• Competent with Microsoft 365 and data analytics tools.

Desirable:

• Degree or qualification in Process, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience designing or utilizing vision systems and Poka Yoke mechanisms.
• Familiarity with chemical dosing and surface treatment processes.
• Certified Yellow or Green Belt in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
• Exposure to ERP and MES software systems.
