About the Team

Join Walmart's Marketplace team focused on innovation and technological advancement. The team builds and enhances the Seller and Channel Partner Portals along with a sophisticated Marketplace API gateway. The primary technology stack includes Java for backend services and ReactJS for frontend development, offering exciting growth and collaboration prospects.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in full-stack development spending approximately 60% of the time coding, reviewing code, debugging, and optimizing both frontend and backend components while ensuring high-quality standards.
• Develop responsive and dynamic user interfaces using frontend technologies like JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, and Webpack.
• Build robust and scalable backend services leveraging Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture ensuring smooth frontend integration.
• Provide mentorship and foster continuous learning and professional development among team members.
• Lead architectural decision-making, stay current with emerging technologies, and maintain comprehensive documentation for frontend and backend systems.
• Collaborate actively with cross-functional teams to improve user experiences and ensure seamless integration of features.
• Maintain application quality, swiftly respond to feedback, enhance performance, and proactively address critical issues.
• Drive technical innovation and lead initiatives involving new technologies and improvements in team processes.
• Manage project timelines, task planning, and apply effective time management to deliver projects on schedule.
• Uphold high standards of engineering excellence through careful code reviews and tackling complex technical problems.
• Provide technical leadership and coordinate across teams while guiding junior engineers.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Expert knowledge of microservices architecture for backend development.
• Proficient in TypeScript and frontend frameworks such as React.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, RESTful API design, and system architecture principles.
• Experience with version control systems including Git and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Familiar with both SQL and NoSQL database technologies, plus caching mechanisms.
• Background in platform teams or experience building shared tools and frameworks for developer use.
• Demonstrated capability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Prior involvement with cloud-native technologies such as Google Cloud Platform or Azure and DevOps methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proven leadership skills including project management and mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to developer productivity, observability, or DevOps tooling is advantageous.
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in internal platform evangelism is a plus.
• Experience in e-commerce or marketplace platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science or related technical fields with additional years of software engineering experience.
• Experience creating accessible digital products in compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards and integrating assistive technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, software engineering, or equivalent with at least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Alternatively, a minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience without a degree.
