Overview
The Developer Acceleration team at HubSpot enables over 2,000 engineers in building, testing, and deploying software at a massive scale. The Release Engineering subgroup manages the entire software delivery lifecycle, handling hundreds of thousands of builds daily and tens of thousands of QA deployments.
Role and Opportunity
This role involves shaping the future of release engineering through the innovative use of agentic AI that enhances build, test, and deployment processes. The team is focused on redefining software delivery pipelines using intelligent agents to assess risk, detect anomalies, and automate decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural direction for HubSpot's release engineering platform, including build, test, and deployment systems.
- Drive design choices for pipeline workflow, testing infrastructure, deployment orchestration, and developer usability.
- Develop and deploy AI-driven quality assurance agents to improve continuous delivery reliability.
- Convert complex infrastructure challenges into straightforward, scalable solutions.
- Reevaluate legacy assumptions about build and deployment systems to innovate for modern, non-deterministic software testing.
- Aspire for a deployment frequency of over 500 per minute by identifying and eliminating pipeline bottlenecks.
- Collaborate across engineering teams and leadership to align technical strategies and raise standards.
- Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and influence critical system decisions across the organization.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience with distributed systems focused on CI/CD, build infrastructure, or backend platform development.
- Strong architectural skills emphasizing simplicity, clarity, and long-term platform scalability.
- Experience working at hyperscaler or large platform provider scale.
- Proven record of owning complex technical projects with broad organizational impact.
- Hands-on approach to development including coding, debugging, and shipping software.
- Aptitude for quickly learning new technical areas and making principled, forward-looking technical decisions.
