Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer

Position Overview

Seeking an accomplished Principal Mechanical Engineer specializing in the design and specification of Rotating Equipment, including Pumps, Compressors, Seals, and other Specialty and Utility Equipment within the Oil & Gas and related industries such as hydrocarbon, petroleum refining, offshore, and infrastructure projects. Candidates must have experience in FEED and detailed engineering for medium to large scale projects, with at least 15 years in the field.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team comprising up to 10 mechanical engineers and designers.
• Create and oversee the discipline-specific work plans.
• Review and validate equipment data sheets and technical specifications.
• Conduct technical evaluations including compressor configuration, driver selection, lifecycle cost analysis, specialty equipment configurations, material handling, and reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) studies.
• Assess technical bids to ensure suitability and compliance.
• Perform thorough reviews of packaged equipment.
• Provide expert technical leadership and advisory support to project teams and clients concerning rotating equipment.
• Maintain the mechanical design integrity, supervise staff performance, and ensure delivery of projects on schedule and within budget.

Collaborative Interactions

• Possess a broad understanding of interdisciplinary activities.
• Coordinate with Project Management and client representatives to align engineering efforts.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and bring a minimum of 15 years’ professional experience within the Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, or infrastructure sectors.

Technical Skills and Competencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical design principles, construction practices, and procedural standards.
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI, NFPA, API, OSHA, ISA, and NEC.
• Extensive expertise in rotating equipment and turbomachinery systems, covering installation, pre-commissioning, and mechanical completion phases.
• Awareness of Saudi Aramco standards and operational procedures will be considered advantageous.
