Job description
About the Role
As Principal Gas Reservoir Engineer, you will spearhead gas reservoir evaluations, build and fine-tune reservoir models, and offer strategic technical guidance on gas drainage design. Your expertise will support resource and reserve appraisals for both conventional petroleum and coal seam gas properties. Collaborating closely with geologists, geophysicists, production engineers, and environmental experts, you will ensure delivery of technically sound results that drive project planning and investment decisions. Transitioning into consulting from operations, your focus will shift towards high-impact reservoir engineering work with fewer routine distractions.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct reservoir engineering and simulation tasks for petroleum and coal seam gas reservoirs.
- Create, calibrate, and sustain static and dynamic reservoir models.
- Analyze reservoir behavior, forecast production, and assist in field development strategies.
- Perform reserves and resources evaluations compliant with industry standards.
- Assess reservoir management tactics, optimize production, and enhance recovery methods.
- Deliver technical due diligence and impartial expert advice for clients and stakeholders.
- Compile technical reports, presentations, and client-facing materials.
- Guide junior engineers and foster growth of the consultancy's technical capabilities.
- Engage in business development, proposal creation, and client management activities.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a well-established reservoir engineer specializing in gas or petroleum with experience in both conventional and unconventional assets.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering field.
- Have over 5 years of reservoir engineering experience in consulting, operations, or both.
- Proficient in reservoir modeling and simulation for petroleum and coal seam gas reservoirs.
- Strong grasp of reservoir characterization, pressure behavior, production forecasting, and reserve estimation.
- Experience with leading reservoir simulation and modeling software.
- Excellent technical report writing and client communication abilities.
Additional advantages include:
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent accreditation.
- Experience producing Competent Person Reports (CPRs) or independent reserve assessments.
- Established industry connections in mining, oil and gas, or energy sectors.
- Familiarity with Australian petroleum and coal seam gas basins.
