Role Summary

As a Principal Fluvial Geomorphologist within our Primary Industries group, you will lead geomorphic and flood risk assessments, offering technical guidance and project leadership. You will mentor team members and act as a subject matter expert and technical reviewer across the wider WSP business. The position emphasizes expertise in fluvial morphodynamics with responsibilities spanning fieldwork and desktop analyses to support natural resource management in rural and sustainable catchment landscapes. You will utilize advanced GIS capabilities alongside numerical modeling and hydraulic or geomorphic design skills.

Location

This role is based onsite in Hamilton, Waikato, with potential office locations including Palmerston North and Christchurch.

Qualifications and Experience

• Postgraduate degree in Physical Geography, Geomorphology, Hydraulic Engineering, Engineering Geology, Hydrology, or a related discipline.
• Between 10 and 15 years of applied experience in geomorphic assessments and/or design projects.
• Expertise in hydraulic and/or landscape evolution modeling software.
• Strong practical skills in conducting field investigations.
• Possession of a current, clean driver's license.
