Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to proposals by crafting the discipline execution approach, estimating project costs, producing proposal content, and presenting to clients.
- Lead technical proposals in whole or in part as required.
- Plan man-hour budgets, work schedules, manpower allocations by skill and experience to satisfy project needs following Discipline Manager’s guidance.
- Ensure proper staffing coverage to accommodate vacations and unforeseen absences.
- Mentor and train team members while supporting training delivery.
- Resolve issues involving multiple disciplines, vendors, and clients promptly.
- Oversee that discipline technical activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and security standards.
- Formulate environmental strategies needed for project approvals and oversee regulatory approval processes.
- Deliver environmental engineering outputs from Conceptual through Detail Design phases for varied engineering projects.
- Conduct permitting studies including Environmental, Social, Health Impact Assessments (ESHIA).
- Perform environmental impact modeling, and solid and hazardous waste management evaluations.
- Manage discharge and emissions assessments, including compliance with MARPOL regulations.
- Engage in master planning and sustainability assessments.
- Carry out air pollution control studies and define scopes for required environmental analyses.
- Maintain strong cross-disciplinary networking and manage interfaces with clients.
- Lead Environmental Hazard Identification (HAZID) workshops and create environmental risk registers.
- Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and formal safety assessments.
- Coordinate reliability evaluations such as Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) for environmental concerns.
- Review environmental criteria during design phases and help develop or contribute to Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Management Plans (EMP), including Construction and Operations EMPs (CEMP & OEMP).
- Supervise the implementation of EMS and EMP initiatives and perform site audits as necessary.
- Identify and raise the required suite of project procedures and deliverables.
- Manage Cost to Recovery (CTR) processes and progress reporting, including estimating work scopes and CTR.
- Lead and oversee a team of professionals and technical staff.
- Provide mentorship to graduates, design and project engineers, technicians, and specialists.
- Engage with local community and stakeholders on consulting matters.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure working practices comply with established Quality Assurance systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to meet all Worley Project Management Process (WPMP) and General Management System (EMS) requirements using consistent approaches, breakdown structures, methodologies, and reporting methods.
- Monitor closure of all identified project risks and opportunities.
Safety
- Adhere to personal safety and safe working practices while complying with Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
- Promote awareness of health, safety, and environmental factors in all activities.
Industry Experience
- Extensive senior-level experience in environmental engineering within municipal, industrial, hydrocarbon, and petrochemical sectors including related infrastructure.
Education & Qualifications
- Engineering degree in Environmental Science or related field from an accredited university.
- Postgraduate qualifications such as a Master's or Doctorate in Environmental Studies are preferred.
- Experience within regulatory authorities is advantageous.
Specialized Knowledge
- Demonstrated active commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management within projects.
- Expertise in permitting studies including ESHIA and plant environmental audits.
- Experience in environmental impact modeling, solid/hazardous waste management, water and wastewater pollution control.
- Proficiency in discharge and emission assessments including MARPOL compliance.
- Background in master planning, sustainability assessments, and reuse/recycle water studies.
- Air pollution control and HSE register management.
- Comprehensive exposure to environmental engineering studies for municipal, industrial, hydrocarbon, and petrochemical facilities.
