We boast nearly 200 staff throughout New Zealand with an additional 800+ across Asia Pacific. We partner with a variety of business, governmental, and regulatory clients to provide tailored advice and support addressing complex sustainability challenges. We currently have an opening in our Ecology & Marine team prompted by growth in renewable energy projects. This senior position focuses on fostering client relationships, leading bids for major ecology projects, coaching team members, and ensuring top-notch technical delivery. Though based in Richmond, Otago, we are open to candidates located anywhere within New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and management of proposals for substantial ecology contracts, emphasizing terrestrial and freshwater ecological expertise
• Cultivate and strengthen effective partnerships with clients and internal colleagues across SLR
• Produce clear, high-quality ecological reports tailored for client needs
• Coordinate and participate in fieldwork, allocating appropriate team resources
• Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to provide ecological expertise across diverse sectors

Qualifications and Experience

• University degree in Ecology or related discipline
• At least 10 years of professional consulting experience in Ecology, with advanced skills in terrestrial and freshwater ecology
• Proven track record in securing, leading, and managing ecological projects
• An established professional network and demonstrated success in business development is highly advantageous
• Experience conducting impact and environmental risk assessments
• Solid understanding of New Zealand environmental laws, policies, and relevant standards
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
• Legal right to work in New Zealand (citizenship or work permit)
• Valid New Zealand driver’s license with a strong driving record
