Role Overview

The Principal Data Scientist will innovate and design cutting-edge machine learning and analytics approaches to enhance the industry-leading digital map. This position involves close collaboration with developers and architects to establish technical solutions, overseeing development, deployment, and upkeep of applications across diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for next-generation process automation in the Core Map product, utilizing scalable Big Data infrastructure and machine learning to enable global digital map creation.
• Lead the design and application of sophisticated statistical, analytical, and machine learning models to optimize data-driven decisions and system management in map-making.
• Serve as a domain expert and innovator in data mining, statistical methods, predictive analytics, and modeling techniques.
• Guide complex data science projects within Core Map, influencing design and architecture across initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to integrate emerging AI and machine learning technologies into map processes for enhanced solutions.
• Mentor and direct data scientists and engineers, encouraging best practices and scalable methodologies.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Master's or PhD in subjects like Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Econometrics with focus on computational statistics, data mining, machine learning, or optimization.
• Have a professional experience exceeding ten years in relevant fields.
• Expertise in data mining and analytical techniques such as regression, classifiers, clustering, association rules, decision trees, and Bayesian networks.
• Competent in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and Point Cloud Processing algorithms.
• Skilled in statistical analysis tools and their scripting languages like Python, R, Matlab, or SAS.
• Programming capabilities in SQL, shell scripting, and Python.
• Familiarity and some experience with Big Data tools such as Pig and Hive within Hadoop or Spark ecosystems for data extraction and preparation.
• Proven ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, articulating the value and applications of predictive models.
• Experience in conceptualizing, explaining, and delivering predictive modeling solutions by coordinating teams of data scientists and engineers.
