About the Brands

This role involves working with three prestigious watch brands under the Swatch Group umbrella: Breguet, Blancpain, and Glashütte Original. Breguet, established in 1775, is a hallmark of exquisite horology, known for innovations like the tourbillon and historical significance with iconic figures. Blancpain, founded in 1735, holds the title as the world's oldest watch brand, blending traditional Swiss watchmaking with innovation to create timeless luxury. Glashütte Original, with roots going back to 1845, epitomizes German watchmaking expertise, manufacturing the majority of its movement components and dials in-house and combining heritage with modern precision.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, dismantle, and troubleshoot mechanical watch movements.
  • Service, reassemble, lubricate, and adjust mechanical movements to meet brand standards.
  • Restore watch cases, bracelets, and parts to factory-level condition.
  • Repair or replace damaged or worn components.
  • Make precision adjustments on balance wheels, hairsprings, escapements, and gear trains.
  • Calibrate movements to achieve chronometer-grade accuracy and performance.
  • Precisely remove, fit, and align dials and hands.
  • Conduct tests for timing, magnetic resistance, and water resistance to ensure adherence to quality criteria.
  • Complete all maintenance and repairs following manufacturer guidelines and workshop protocols.
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and a clean, organized workspace.
  • Comply with technical instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality assurance processes.
  • Follow workplace health and safety standards, reporting hazards and incidents promptly.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Successful completion of a watchmaking apprenticeship or WOSTEP 3000-hour course, or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least five years of experience servicing precision mechanical watches, including standard and chronograph models.
  • Certification equivalent to Evaluation SGWME 2824-2, OWME 1120, or EWME 2824.
  • Capability to service watches meeting precision standards established by institutions such as METAS or COSC or pertinent brand benchmarks.
  • Preferred additional qualifications include experience with ETA 7750, OME 3303/1861 movements, or other prestige brand experience.
  • Experience with jewelry or watch refurbishments involving precious metals.
  • Trade qualification in polishing, such as WOSTEP or similar.
  • Strong organizational skills and methodical work approach.
  • Basic computer literacy and administrative abilities.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Motivation to meet targets and key performance indicators.

Additional Details

In November 2026, Blancpain intends to inaugurate its first Australian boutique in central Sydney, which will include a dedicated Customer Service Centre for these prestige brands on the second floor.
