Role Overview
We are looking for a Precedent Developer to join our national Knowledge team based in Melbourne. This role involves collaborating closely with lawyers, knowledge managers, and business services to develop, refine, and automate legal precedents and templates to improve drafting workflows and document production efficiency. The position suits a self-driven individual who enjoys blending legal drafting expertise with technological solutions and process enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and enhance legal precedents, templates, and automated documentation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and lawyers to optimize drafting processes.
- Code, test, and support legal documents on automation platforms, and help implement new platforms.
- Manage drafting resources, style guides, and knowledge assets to uphold quality and consistency.
- Deliver induction training on Microsoft Word and provide ongoing support for legal and business teams.
- Advise on best practices in document production and use of automation tools.
- Contribute to projects around knowledge management, legal technology advancements, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in delivering Microsoft Word training and user assistance.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word including document formatting, use of styles, template creation, and production practices.
- Proven track record in precedent development and legal document automation.
- Expertise in coding and automating documents using tools such as XpressDox, Contract Express, HotDocs, LawDocs, or similar.
- Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Proactive attitude with a strong interest in process improvements and problem-solving.
