Job description

Role Overview

Our client is a well-established EdTech SaaS company specializing in assessment and examination technologies. They are seeking a Pre-Sales Solution Consultant to become part of their expanding commercial team. This role is highly collaborative and customer-centric, working closely alongside Account Executives throughout the sales journey. The consultant will lead technical discovery efforts, conduct workshops and specialized product demonstrations, analyze customer workflows and integration needs, and convert complex business and technical demands into effective, practical solutions.

Further collaboration with Product, Engineering, Services, and Customer Success teams is expected to pinpoint solution limitations, assess technical risks, and ensure the feasibility and deliverability of solutions sold.

The current pre-sales team is small, with a single engineer in place, creating a unique opportunity for an individual who embraces a start-up atmosphere, enjoys ownership, and desires to substantially influence the growth of the pre-sales function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Account Executives throughout the sales cycle to thoroughly understand opportunities, gather customer requirements, and identify necessary steps to advance sales.
  • Serve as the technical and solution-focused ally to the commercial team, clarifying the platform's capabilities and value to prospective clients.
  • Conduct detailed technical discovery with prospects to analyze their business, operational, and technical needs, including assessing existing systems, workflows, examination processes, and integration demands.
  • Develop scalable and feasible solutions based on customer requirements, deciding when to apply standard features, configure the platform, integrate systems, or adopt alternative approaches while noting potential gaps and risks.
  • Design and facilitate tailored demonstrations and workshops customized to each prospect’s unique priorities and situations, moving beyond generic product presentations.
  • Support enterprise sales activities such as contributing to RFPs, RFIs, and tender submissions and act as the main technical contact throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Channel customer feedback and business insights to Product and Engineering teams to highlight recurring requests, product limitations, integration issues, competitive intelligence, and technical dependencies.
  • Assist in transferring knowledge post-sale to implementation teams to ensure alignment between pre-sale designs and delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance pre-sales processes, including improving demonstrations, streamlining sales cycles, and sharing best practices within the team.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-graduate experience in SaaS, technological, or technology-enabled environments with roles such as Pre-Sales, Solution Consulting, Technical Consulting, Business Analysis, Implementation, or Technical Customer Success.
  • Proven ability to confidently engage with clients and technical/non-technical stakeholders by leading discovery sessions, workshops, presentations, and demos while establishing rapport and communicating complex concepts clearly.
  • Strong aptitude for designing solutions that respond to intricate customer problems, knowing when to apply standard functions, configurations, or integrations.
  • Understanding of technical integrations with familiarity in REST APIs, Single Sign-On (SSO), cloud environments, data flows, and system integrations to discuss solution architecture credibly.
  • Commercially astute with experience working closely with sales teams to align solutions with customer needs and drive sales forward effectively.
  • Self-driven with strong ownership qualities, proactive problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with relevant parties to resolve challenges rather than deferring them.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, lean startup setting managing multitasking priorities and fostering operational improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to simplify technical information for diverse audiences.

Benefits and Opportunities

  • Chance to significantly influence and help shape a growing pre-sales team within an EdTech SaaS company.
  • Direct collaboration with sales teams, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the sales process beyond just technical support.
  • Exposure to multiple facets of the business including Sales, Product, Engineering, Services, Customer Success, and Marketing, enabling holistic impact on product and delivery.
  • Engagement in customer-facing technical roles that solve real challenges through discovery, design, workshops, and demonstrations.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangement with expected in-office presence 1-2 days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays preferred) and remote work permitted otherwise.
  • Opportunity to advance and grow professionally alongside a developing pre-sales function and EdTech environment.
