About Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1000 company listed on the NYSE (VSH), produces one of the most extensive collections of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components that power innovations across automotive, industrial, computing, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical sectors. The products developed here impact lives globally every day.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior New Product Introduction (NPI) IC Product Engineer to join our Power IC team in either Limerick or Cork, Ireland. This role involves taking charge of product engineering activities encompassing new product development, characterization, qualification, and transitioning products to mass production within the field of integrated circuits for modern power systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead new product development, qualification processes, and orchestrate the release to mass production.
  • Design and execute reliability plans along with die sorting, final test strategies, characterization plans, and bench and reliability testing hardware.
  • Ensure new products meet manufacturing specifications and datasheet compliance.
  • Manage product release timelines and develop detailed product release strategies.
  • Collaborate with packaging and design teams on package on die (POD), bonding diagrams, lead frames, clips, substrate design, and bump layout.
  • Work alongside design, application, and test teams to resolve issues, debug new silicon, and identify root causes for failures or deviations from specifications.
  • Conduct and oversee correlation studies between automated test equipment (ATE) and bench characterization.
  • Produce temperature profiling, reliability drift analysis, and generate comprehensive test yield and statistical reporting.
  • Establish die sort, final test, and quality assurance test limits; monitor NPI yields and implement yield enhancement initiatives.
  • Oversee engineering wafer start coordination, build requests, and maintain product release documentation.
  • Facilitate and test engineering sample requests to support customers and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with sustaining engineering to ensure smooth mass production handover.
  • Work with marketing to finalize electrical parameters for datasheets.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required; a master’s degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an NPI-IC product engineering role; experience with MOSFETs, multiphase controllers, or digital controllers is a plus.
  • Extensive understanding of advanced semiconductor packaging, device physics, analog and digital circuit theory, reliability testing methodologies, electrical and thermal characterization, failure analysis, wafer fabrication, assembly flows, wafer sort and final test operations.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO, AEC, JEDEC, DFMEA, DFT, DFM, DOE, and usage of statistical process control tools such as PAT, SPC, GRR, and JMP.
  • Hands-on experience with test platforms like ETS364/88/800 Eagle Tester, ASL1K, or similar open architecture testers.
  • Proficient in semiconductor device bench setup, reliability and characterization testing, and lab bench instruments including oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, electronic loads, multimeters, and LabVIEW.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, PMBus, SPI, and programming skills in Python or LabVIEW for laboratory automation.
  • Strong statistical analysis abilities applied to process and product data.
