Job description

Overview

Become a key community figure with Canada Post by taking on the role of Postmaster. Reporting to the Superintendent/Local Area Manager, you will be responsible for promoting and selling Canada Post’s products and services within your community. As the primary representative of the Post Office in Clarke City, Quebec, you will oversee staff and ensure exceptional customer service while managing diverse priorities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with local community members to promote and provide postal products and services to both the public and businesses.
  • Manage post office administration, ensuring retail hours and delivery expectations are met.
  • Oversee postal revenue, assets, and their protection.
  • Keep accurate records and prepare operational reports.
  • Assist in the efficient management of mail delivery routes.
  • Perform mail sorting when necessary.
  • Supervise staff and maintain a tidy, presentable post office environment that adheres to Canada Post cleanliness standards.
  • Operate the post office diligently and effectively.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent provincial certification, alongside experience in business administration beneficial.
  • Background in interacting with customers in retail or service sectors, including sales and handling cash transactions.
  • Familiarity with postal regulations, mail processing methods, and service delivery procedures.
  • Physical capability to lift mail containers up to 50 pounds, push/pull mailboxes, sort mail, and stand for prolonged periods.

Additional Terms and Conditions

  • Appointment is governed by the Canada Post Act.
  • Public service hours are determined by Canada Post and may vary depending on circumstances.

Working Hours

  • 25 hours per week.
  • Monday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM; 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Thursday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM; 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Employment Details and Preferences

  • Permanent full-time position located onsite in Clarke City, Quebec.
  • French language proficiency is essential.
  • Priority consideration for transfer or applications will be given to Canada Post employees who are members of CPAA within the local competition area.
