About the Role
Join Canada Post as a Postmaster, acting as a pivotal community leader in Sainte Agathe, Manitoba. Reporting to the Superintendent or Local Area Manager, you will champion Canada Post's products and services, overseeing a local post office that reflects the organization's dedication to customer service and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with the local community to promote Canada Post's services and postal products.
- Manage sales and promotion of postal offerings to individuals and businesses.
- Provide and maintain suitable premises in a central, accessible location within the community within 30 days if selected.
- Oversee the post office's operations to fulfill retail hours and delivery commitments.
- Manage postal revenue streams, physical assets, and financial accountability.
- Maintain accurate records and generate necessary reports.
- Support efficient management of mail delivery routes.
- Perform mail sorting to postal boxes when required.
- Supervise post office staff as needed.
- Ensure the post office remains clean, organized, and aligned with Canada Post cleanliness standards.
- Operate the facility with diligence and efficiency to meet organizational expectations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or an equivalent provincial certification and/or business administration experience.
- Ownership or leasing of accessible, centrally located premises available one month before hire date.
- Previous experience in public interaction within retail or service settings, including handling sales and cash transactions.
- Familiarity with postal regulations, mail processing methods, and service procedures.
- Physical ability to lift mail containers up to 50 lbs, move mailboxes, and stand for extended periods during sorting tasks.
Premises Expectations
- Premises must be fully accessible for persons with disabilities and subject to approval at least one month before hiring.
- Postmasters bear financial responsibility for rent or lease, utilities, cleaning, maintenance, snow removal, municipal taxes, and necessary insurance.
- Service hours to the public are set by Canada Post and may vary as needed.
Additional Information
- Transfer priority goes to Canada Post Association (CPAA) members, especially those within the posted competition area.
- Term employees with continuous CPAA membership may be eligible to apply per the Collective Agreement.
- The position involves approximately 31 working hours per week.
- A leasing allowance of $3,428 annually helps offset post office operational costs.
- An annual supplemental allowance may be available to assist with premises-related expenses.
