We are seeking a PostgreSQL Server Database Administrator to join our team based in Singapore. This role demands a strong technical foundation combined with a disciplined approach to delivery. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering teams, stakeholders, and delivery leaders to support complex technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including installation, patch management, upgrades, backup, recovery, and configuration control.
- Partner effectively with business units and application development teams to address business challenges through database solutions.
- Design, install, and sustain new databases; ensure database performance tuning and failover readiness.
- Work in close coordination with the UNIX database solutions team in Zurich, providing incident resolution and operational support during Asia working hours.
- Adhere to ethical and compliance standards by demonstrating integrity, diligence, fair dealings, conflict of interest management, continuous development, risk management, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Demonstrable experience in engineering and operating PostgreSQL databases.
- Proficiency with data modeling tools.
- Strong knowledge of UNIX and Linux administration, including scripting capabilities.
- Expertise in installing, configuring, and performance tuning databases.
- Deep understanding of backup, recovery processes, and failover best practices.
- Familiarity with virtualization using ESX and container orchestration via Kubernetes.
- Preferred additional skills include knowledge of enterprise architecture standards, cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and other database systems like Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible and version control systems like GitLab.
- Insight into the systems engineering lifecycle methodology.
- The ability to navigate data center environments with minimal supervision, strong troubleshooting across storage, operating systems, patches, and networking domains.
- Capability to thrive in dynamic environments requiring multitasking and development across multiple skill sets.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as outstanding interpersonal abilities.
