Job description

About Moreton Capital Partners

Moreton Capital Partners (MCP) is a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulated investment manager that leverages systematic and technology-driven approaches to trade commodities, alternative markets, and emerging data-intensive asset classes. The firm integrates advanced quantitative modeling, agentic AI, and expert domain knowledge to develop strategies that generate consistent, uncorrelated alpha.

Role Overview

MCP regards prediction markets as a crucial growth segment and is expanding its specialized strategy in this area by collaborating and trading on premier event contract platforms globally. The organization seeks a seasoned Portfolio Manager to spearhead this initiative, overseeing the entire investment process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the prediction markets profit and loss, including setting the strategy, managing risk boundaries, overseeing position sizing, and ensuring adherence to drawdown and exposure limits across all trading activities.
  • Lead all stages of investment management: from generating trading ideas, validating models, executing live trades, conducting post-trade analyses, to driving continuous systematic improvements.
  • Recruit and manage a global team of traders and analysts, prioritizing research directions, performing rigorous reviews, and fostering talent development.
  • Design and advance MCP's competitive advantage through multiple strategy frameworks including market making, cross-platform arbitrage, event-driven momentum, statistical analysis of correlated contracts, and innovative alternative data signals.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to specify and prioritize technology infrastructure needs such as execution platforms, data pipelines, monitoring systems, and low-latency order management tools.
  • Engage in investor communications and support capital-raising efforts by clearly articulating the strategy's competitive edge, risk profile, and performance metrics to institutional stakeholders.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience managing a live quantitative or event-driven trading portfolio with direct accountability for profit and loss, beyond advisory or theoretical model roles.
  • Proven ability to generate alpha in prediction markets, binary event trading, options, or similar event-resolution related financial domains.
  • Strong foundation in quantitative disciplines, including probability theory, Bayesian inference, statistical modeling, and portfolio construction.
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior traders and analysts.
  • Deep familiarity and active participation within the prediction markets ecosystem, including platforms, trading mechanics, recent contract settlements, and recognition of structural inefficiencies.
  • Educational credentials at undergraduate or postgraduate levels in quantitative fields.

Desirable Additional Qualifications

  • Meaningful operational experience on platforms like Polymarket, Kalshi, or their equivalents.
  • Background in systematic approaches to commodity, macro, or multi-asset trading, aligning with MCP's core strengths and enabling strategic cross-application.
  • Knowledge of analytics and data infrastructures relevant to professional sports and significant real-world event sectors such as politics, macroeconomics, and climate issues.
  • Understanding of blockchain and decentralized finance technologies pertinent to on-chain prediction market platforms.
  • Prior exposure to fund management activities such as investor relations, risk reporting, or strategic documentation.

Compensation and Application Process

The position offers a competitive base salary alongside significant performance-based incentives and an opportunity to participate broadly in MCP's success. Compensation details will be finalized during the hiring phase with successful candidates.

Applicants are invited to submit a CV and cover letter focusing on their prediction markets expertise—emphasizing strategies managed, identified edges, risk management approaches in event-driven markets, and motivations for pursuing this role. Applications will be reviewed continuously, with shortlisted candidates engaging in strategic discussions and detailed evaluations of their investment processes.
