About the Role

At Gerber Collision & Glass located in Johnson City, TN, the Porter position is integral to supporting quality repair services by ensuring customers' vehicles are clean and presentable prior to delivery. This role also involves keeping the shop and office environments orderly and well-maintained.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute the Wow Operating Way (WOW) plan consistently to uphold service standards.
• Perform daily cleaning duties inside the office, including emptying garbage, mopping floors, and dusting counters and workspaces.
• Maintain cleanliness in the production areas by emptying waste containers, sweeping, removing unwanted vehicle parts, and storing tools properly.
• Keep the exterior premises, including parking lots and sidewalks, clean and safe; shovel sidewalks when necessary.
• Pre-wash vehicles before repair work commences.
• Clean the interior and exterior of vehicles after repairs are completed.
• Transport customer vehicles to sublet locations as needed for additional repairs.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Automotive experience is an advantage.
• Must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Clear near vision is necessary to perform tasks precisely.
• Ability to multitask and strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrate reliability, trustworthiness, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn.

Physical Demands and Other Conditions

• Capable of physical activities including pulling, pushing, carrying, walking over 5 hours, sitting, standing over 5 hours, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling at least once per shift.
• Able to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working near moving mechanical parts.
• Physical abilities must meet job demands; accommodations available for disabilities.
