Job description
Job Overview
The Porter is tasked with maintaining cleanliness and safety standards across all crucial areas within the warehouse. This role involves eliminating hazards such as spills or substances that could endanger employees and customers. Additionally, the Porter is responsible for updating Sanitation and Cleaning Logs reliably each day and ensuring all cleaning equipment meets company HACCP program standards. The position may also encompass extra duties assigned by the branch manager, including minor painting, cleaning of wet pallets, and upkeep of facility lighting.
Key Responsibilities
- Sweep the interior and exterior premises thoroughly.
- Perform regular cleaning and upkeep of all facility restrooms.
- Clean windows, doors, and coffee areas as necessary.
- Maintain all trash receptacles within the premises.
- Operate mechanical equipment like trash compactors, cardboard balers, and floor scrubbing machines appropriately when required.
- Address any warehouse spills promptly and effectively.
- Clean the employee break rooms according to schedule.
- Support department managers with aisle cleaning tasks as needed.
- Verify that HACCP procedures and Sanitation logs are consistently followed.
- Assist management with additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of sanitation principles.
- Familiarity with operating floor machines, balers, and compactors is beneficial.
- Physical capability to lift items up to 50 pounds.
