Role Summary

The Polisher will work from process directions and technical drawings to finish and polish components, while coordinating with other teams to repair equipment used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. This is a hands-on role in a busy production setting, working with advanced industry equipment.

Key Duties

  • Carry out polishing work on equipment accurately, using the correct procedures and completing tasks within required timelines.
  • Maintain a high level of precision and care throughout the fabrication process.
  • Use a range of hand tools and measuring instruments effectively.
  • Support stainless steel fabrication work, including tube cutting, grinder operation, and polishing.
  • Perform NDT/Liquid Penetrant checks on internal welds on electro-polished vessels.
  • Fit and maintain utility and service lines.
  • Operate overhead cranes and/or forklifts when required.
  • Inspect shop machinery and ensure it is kept in safe working condition.
  • Suggest process or workflow improvements where appropriate.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Be prepared to travel when the job requires it.
  • Contribute actively to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Leaving Certificate or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • Previous metal work experience of two years is preferred.
  • Applicants must already be eligible to work in Ireland.
  • Ability to handle basic arithmetic is necessary.
  • Must be able to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving ability is important.
  • Good spoken communication skills are needed.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools and basic fabrication tools is required.
  • The ideal candidate should be self-driven and proactive.
  • Blueprint reading skills are essential.
  • The role is typically performed in a manufacturing environment or at a customer site.
  • Prior exposure to continuous improvement methods is an advantage.
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience is also considered a plus.

Additional Information

This is an onsite full-time position based in Kells, County Meath, Ireland. The role involves working in a manufacturing environment and may also require attendance at customer sites. Travel may be necessary from time to time.
