Plumbing, Gasfitting & Drainlaying Tutor

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced individual with a background in plumbing, gasfitting, or drainlaying to join our Trades Training campus in Dunedin as a full-time, permanent Tutor. This role offers the opportunity to step away from hands-on trade work while remaining connected to the industry by educating Pre-Trade learners through hands-on and theoretical training sessions. You will play an essential role in equipping students with foundational skills, knowledge, and confidence as they prepare to enter their careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engaging practical and theoretical instruction in plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying to Pre-Trade learners.
• Create and maintain an encouraging and effective educational environment that fosters learner success and engagement.
• Utilize appropriate teaching methods, tools, and resources to achieve clear and measurable learning outcomes.
• Track and assess learner progress, offering constructive feedback and support throughout their learning journey.
• Develop strong relationships with students, team members, and other stakeholders to ensure a supportive educational experience.
• Ensure all educational activities comply with health and safety standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Certification in Plumbing, Gasfitting, and/or Drainlaying is essential.
• Possession of Unit Standards 4098 and 11551, or willingness to attain these with organisational support.
• Adult Education qualifications at Level 4 or 5, or readiness to pursue these with assistance.
• Extensive practical experience and knowledgeable in your respective trade.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and supporting diverse learners.
• Passionate about imparting knowledge and fostering skills development in others.
