Job Overview
This role centers on ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of all plumbing systems within the hotel premises. The plumber is tasked with repairs, installations, and regular preventive maintenance to guarantee guest and staff safety and comfort. Prompt response to plumbing emergencies, maintaining fixtures, and complying with hotel and safety standards are key objectives to support the hotel's performance metrics including QA, SALT, HACCP, and GTMS.
Primary Duties
- Perform maintenance, repair, and installation on plumbing equipment, fixtures, and systems.
- Manage water treatment processes including monitoring and adjusting system readings.
- Inspect and maintain plumbing elements like pipes, taps, toilets, showers, heaters, and drainage systems.
- Troubleshoot plumbing issues throughout guest areas, public spaces, and back-of-house locations.
- Clear drains, unclog pipes, and conduct necessary repairs.
- Assist with installing AV equipment (microphones, lighting) in guest and function rooms as needed.
- Respond efficiently to urgent plumbing failures and emergencies.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules, keep detailed plumber logs, and record system readings accurately.
- Maintain tools in proper working condition and keep the work environment orderly.
- Respond immediately to fire alarms with appropriate actions according to policies.
- Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance in guest rooms and public areas including VIP spaces and corridors.
- Coordinate special guest plumbing requests with supervisors.
- Work collaboratively with the engineering department to ensure plumbing systems operate optimally.
Inventory and Budget Control
- Maintain adequate stock levels of plumbing spare parts and order in advance to avoid shortages.
- Understand and adhere to plumbing-related repair and maintenance budgets.
- Monitor utility usage and report findings to management for efficiency improvements.
- Implement cost control practices to minimize waste and expenses.
Inspections and Compliance
- Regularly inspect guest rooms and hotel areas for plumbing issues, taking corrective action as required.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderly state of plant rooms and equipment areas, preventing unauthorized storage.
- Comply with all relevant municipal codes, environmental regulations, and hotel safety standards including QA and HACCP protocols.
- Participate actively in team briefings, provide task updates, and perform comprehensive shift handovers.
- Support coworkers and maintain thorough documentation of plumbing equipment and maintenance activities.
- Submit timely material and spare parts requests and follow-up with administrative teams.
- Engage in team meetings and hotel events as required.
Energy Management and Conservation
- Monitor and ensure efficient operation of Guest Room Management System (GRMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Perform routine property walkthroughs to identify and recommend energy-saving opportunities.
- Track consumption of electricity, gas, and water meticulously and propose measures to reduce usage without impacting guest comfort.
Professional Development and Standards
- Attend all engineering department trainings and complete required online courses promptly.
- Adhere strictly to Hilton Brand Standards and health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, strong communication, and follow emergency protocols as needed.
- Handle guest requests and complaints with professionalism and ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance consistently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support operational excellence.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
- Thorough understanding of plumbing systems, repair methods, and tools.
- Experienced with Fire Life Safety systems and procedures.
- Knowledgeable in building operations and maintenance practices.
- Skilled in using Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Familiar with QA, HACCP, and security standards.
- Proficient English communication skills (speaking, reading, writing).
- Excellent service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Capable of following safety guidelines and responding effectively to emergencies.
