Role Overview

We are seeking experienced professionals to join as PLC Panel Design Engineers working onsite in Chennai. The role involves detailed technical design and evaluation of PLC and power control panels aligned with international standards, supporting water, wastewater, power, oil & gas, and related industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret datasheets of motors, MCC, VFD, and PLC panels adhering to UL/NEMA/CSA standards.
• Generate and present inspection reports for MCC/VFD panels and motors.
• Review tender documents and draft technical queries for deviations.
• Prepare critical design documentation including load lists, IO lists, single-line diagrams, system architectures, loop drawings, control schematics, panel GA drawings, and BOMs using AutoCAD Electrical related to PLC and power panels.
• Provide accurate estimation of hours required to complete assigned tasks.
• Design low voltage systems following North American standards such as UL508A, NFPA 70, UL698A, UL913, CSA 22.2, NFPA 497, NFPA 820, and ANSI schematics.
• Work hands-on with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC systems.
• Conduct comprehensive technical evaluation of electrical item bids ensuring compliance with codes, client specifications, and project timelines and costs.
• Manage FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) for PLC control panels.
• Select VFD, PLC, and control panel components appropriately.
• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of instruments such as 2-wire, 4-wire, HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus protocols.
• Understand integration interfaces between MCC/VFD panels and automation systems over hardwired or soft protocols like Modbus or Ethernet.
• Interpret electrical datasheets for motors, MCC, PMCC, VFD, APFC panels, cables, and related accessories.
• Create and verify electrical load lists, single-line diagrams, power/control cable schedules, cable tray and earthing layouts, and corresponding BOMs.
• Analyze inspection reports for electrical equipment and cables.
• Guide 3D modelers on electrical equipment and cable tray placement within 3D constructions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for 3D modeling and layout finalization.

Preferred Skills for Career Growth

• Streamlining and unifying PLC panel and electrical design processes.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Balance of Plant (BOP) electrical engineering aspects including cable schedules, cable tray routing, earthing and lighting calculations, and layout planning.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidates will have an engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics or a related field, with 7 to 11 years of experience in panel design and BOP electrical design within water, wastewater, power, oil & gas, or related sectors.
