Job description
About Share
Share is a venture-backed enterprise creating a marketplace for bandwidth — the crucial infrastructure linking internet providers and users. By building distributed routing nodes and connecting carriers, ISPs, data centers, and enterprises through a neutral exchange, Share transforms bandwidth into a liquid and tradable commodity, addressing a fragmented and inefficient market.
Role Overview
The infrastructure team powers Share’s marketplace, supporting every API interaction, monitoring signal, and systems ensuring seamless transactions. As a senior Platform Engineer, you will be pivotal in scaling this infrastructure to match rapid growth, utilizing modern cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, cloud architecture, containerization, and DevOps methodologies.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
- Take ownership of infrastructure at scale, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Provide leadership beyond operations by anticipating and mitigating problems before they escalate into incidents.
- Collaborate closely with system engineers, network teams, and software developers to enhance infrastructure robustness.
- Drive decisions and improvements rooted in experience and technical knowledge.
- Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
- Manage cloud infrastructure extensively, preferably within Google Cloud Platform, including networking, IAM, cost management, capacity planning, and multi-region setups.
- Maintain proficiency across the full infrastructure stack, from virtualization technologies like VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, to container orchestration and Docker.
- Design and manage production-level APIs effectively.
- Integrate AI tools natively into workflows, demonstrating productivity gains from such integrations.
- Deliver ownership from scoping system problems to shipping solutions and iterating on learnings to advance departmental capabilities.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 7 or more years of professional experience in systems or infrastructure engineering with demonstrated ownership at scale.
- Strong leadership mindset emphasizing responsibility for outcomes and proactive problem-solving.
- Advanced expertise in Kubernetes deployment, scaling, and debugging.
- Robust cloud infrastructure experience, ideally with Google Cloud Platform.
- Comprehensive knowledge across virtualization and container technologies.
- Experience managing production API lifecycles.
- Proficient in applying AI tools within engineering workflows.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary positioned at the top local market range.
- Meaningful equity participation within a mission-driven, investor-backed company.
- A culture promoting high ownership, continuous learning, and thorough documentation.
