Role Overview

Within the Patient Care Systems division, you will be part of a team powering life-saving cardiac therapies through building connected digital ecosystems. These platforms enable clinicians to monitor and manage millions of patients with implantable cardiac devices globally, turning complex data into actionable insights that facilitate faster clinical decisions and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, operate, and maintain shared engineering platforms and services that support implantable cardiac device software ecosystems.
• Develop reusable automation scripts, tools, comprehensive documentation, and runbooks aimed at increasing developer efficiency, system reliability, and operational workflows.
• Support initiatives spanning software delivery, infrastructure, data management, security, and engineering enablement.
• Diagnose technical problems and propose enhancements to systems, services, and engineering procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including software engineers, architects, security experts, data specialists, and infrastructure groups.
• Continually learn and apply industry best practices related to software development, automation, cloud computing, security, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of software engineering principles and computing concepts, gained via academics, internships, personal projects, or initial work experience.
• Exposure to programming, scripting, automation techniques, cloud technologies, or data systems.
• Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving aptitude, and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively within technical teams, seek guidance appropriately, and swiftly learn new technologies and engineering methodologies.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation, infrastructure services, or modern application deployment technologies.
• Proficiency in modern programming or scripting languages.
• Familiarity with source control systems, automated testing, and continuous integration/delivery workflows.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation or configuration management technologies.
• Understanding of data processing, event streaming, databases, and distributed system concepts.
• Experience with observability tools, monitoring, security standards, compliance, or operational support.
• Exposure to developer productivity tools, self-service platforms, or engineering enablement solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position in Ireland is between 44,240 and 66,360 EUR annually. The role is also eligible for the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP), a short-term incentive scheme.
