Job description
About Share
Share is a venture-backed company creating a marketplace for bandwidth, acting as the infrastructure that connects internet capacity providers to individuals and businesses relying on it. Bandwidth is currently the most sought-after asset worldwide, yet its trading process is fragmented and plagued by inefficient pricing. Share addresses this by establishing distributed routing nodes and linking carriers, ISPs, data centers, and enterprise clients through a neutral exchange, transforming bandwidth into a liquid and tradable commodity.
The company is pioneering the marketplace for purchasing, selling, and delivering bandwidth globally.
Role Overview
As a Platform Engineer at Share, you will be responsible for scaling the infrastructure that underpins the marketplace – the foundation of every API call, monitoring alert, and system ensuring seamless transactions among carriers, ISPs, and enterprise customers. You will work with cutting-edge cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, cloud architectures, containerization, and virtualization, along with practices that improve DevOps and API management.
This role goes beyond operational tasks; it requires leadership to preempt problems, guide decision-making, and collaborate closely with systems engineers as well as networking and software teams to maintain and evolve the platform.
Candidate Profile
- At least seven years of professional experience in systems or infrastructure engineering with significant ownership of scalable infrastructure.
- A proactive leadership approach: taking full accountability for results, identifying and resolving issues before incidents occur, and advocating for optimal decisions benefiting the team and organization.
- Expertise in Kubernetes, including deploying, scaling, and troubleshooting production clusters.
- Strong background in cloud infrastructure, ideally with Google Cloud Platform, including networking, Identity and Access Management (IAM), cost and capacity planning, and designing multi-region architectures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of full-stack infrastructure from virtual machines (such as VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) through container ecosystems and orchestration technologies.
- Extensive experience in designing and managing production APIs.
- Proficient and innovative use of AI tools in workflows, with proven ability to develop with AI technologies rather than simply applying them.
- Demonstrated ability to independently scope, develop, deploy, take ownership through production, and leverage learnings from system-related challenges to advance team capabilities.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a competitive salary aligned with the top local market rates and equity in a mission-focused, investor-backed company. The work environment emphasizes high ownership, continuous learning with strong support, and thorough documentation practices.
