Job description
Role Overview
Bass Coast Shire Council is seeking a dedicated Planning Enforcement Officer to join their planning team in Wonthaggi on a full-time, permanent basis. This role centers on conducting enforcement investigations related to planning matters within the Shire's jurisdiction. The officer will routinely monitor land use and developments, respond to community concerns about potential breaches of the Planning Scheme, and prepare comprehensive reports on enforcement issues, permit applications, and prosecution cases. The position requires maintaining detailed documentation to support legal proceedings.
Candidate Profile
- A relevant tertiary qualification in town planning, compliance and enforcement, investigations, law, environmental science, or a related field; or equivalent extensive experience in a similar domain.
- Proven background in planning compliance, enforcement, investigations, statutory planning, local laws, building compliance, or related regulatory sectors, with sound understanding of Victorian planning legislation and VCAT procedures.
- Strong skills in research, analysis, organization, and handling competing priorities to meet deadlines while applying industry knowledge toward compliance, community engagement, and policy formulation.
- Knowledge of TechnologyOne (OneCouncil) is highly valued.
- A valid Victorian Driver Licence and eligibility for membership in the Planning Enforcement Officer Association of Victoria are mandatory.
