About the Role
This full-time temporary position, available until 15 August 2027, offers a dynamic opportunity to work collaboratively with residents, visitors, local businesses, and community organizations to improve safety within Bass Coast Shire. Duties are varied and may include educating pet owners, responding to inquiries related to local laws, conducting patrols and investigations, assisting with animal management, supporting school crossings, and aiding in emergency response and recovery efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing community-centered and positive customer service and support.
- Engaging with the community through educational campaigns and awareness initiatives.
- Compiling reports, correspondence, and documentation concerning compliance issues.
- Assisting with the management and operation of Council's animal-related facilities such as the pound.
- Participating in on-call rosters during after-hours and weekends, including support during emergencies and high-traffic holiday seasons.
About You
The ideal candidate thrives in community interaction and relationship building, bringing a calm and professional demeanor suitable for a range of situations, from educating the public to investigating regulatory complaints. Experience is expected in compliance, enforcement, animal management, local laws, or related sectors alongside strong communication skills and confidence working with diverse populations.

- Hourly wage of $41.28 plus superannuation.
- Work location: Wonthaggi, Victoria.
