Job Overview
The Planner role demands application of conceptual knowledge in Planning and Scheduling to address various straightforward challenges within project timelines. Working with moderate supervision, the Planner analyzes practical solutions based on company procedures, gaining deeper understanding of organizational processes and client needs. This position requires comprehension of key business drivers to effectively solve routine planning issues through technical experience, judgement, and precedent analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and sustain logically connected level 3 and level 4 EPFCIC activity schedules for both offshore and onshore oil and gas projects, strictly following precedence flow diagrams and applying industry best practices, while receiving guidance from Senior Planners.
- Generate workforce histograms as well as progress and quantity curves aligned to project schedules.
- Maintain and assess the sequencing of Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction, Installation, Hook-Up, and Commissioning phases to control critical path and overall project timelines.
- Identify and accelerate operations causing schedule delays and analyze schedule changes to accommodate unexpected conditions.
- Prepare comprehensive lists of necessary resources including materials, tools, and equipment for work package inputs.
- Apply in-depth understanding of advanced work package methodologies and their management.
- Develop, resource load, level, and update activities consistent with earned value management practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree at associate or bachelor's level in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Business Management, or equivalent technical training and experience.
- Between 5 to 7 years of project planning experience specifically involving offshore or onshore oil and gas projects.
- Proficient knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software.
- Advanced abilities in Excel including use of curves, histograms, dynamic tables, and formulas.
- Understanding of Primavera P6 integration with other software and disciplines.
- Capability to mentor junior team members, providing functional training where applicable.
- Skill in utilizing available information to respond to data inquiries accurately.
- Competence in analyzing data sets to extract insights and correlations.
- Ability to review projects by referencing historical data and current trends to derive valuable insights.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving aptitude, and keen attention to detail are essential.
- Competence in managing, updating, and storing project data effectively.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
